It's hard to reignite a romance with the girl you saw be brutally murdered in High School. It's harder when she starts doing killing of her own. It's impossible when you're both trapped in hell.
The High Mountain Church has a single goal. Digest and consume. It's a monster, whose goals are beyond understanding. Only one thing is known for sure. It has a favorite food. Across every parallel reality, the church takes one woman, over and over again. In all her iterations, and all her forms. There's no way out, and nowhere to hide forever. It'll have them all in the end. Stella Carson is just its newest victim.
Inspired by works like: Killing Eve, Mastaba Snoopy, and that one recording of No Children by the Mountain Goats where only the audience is singing.
Up On High Mountain is a story where I'm crawling into the enclosure of my own central metaphor and throwing shit at the glass like an unhappy monkey. It's weird and out there, and is Very Much genre fiction. It's set in an eldritch church full of copies of the same woman from different timelines, as they all try to avoid being killed by the actively hostile and ever changing environment. There's snooty blood witches, a Rat King of people, badly quoted and ORIGINAL bible verses(lmao), and most importantly of all: blood, guts, and gore for our Lesbians to roll around in. (<- it's enrichment I swear)
